Baseball Recap: Berkshire Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Berkshire ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Geneva Eagles, sneaking past 13-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Badgers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Aidan Andre tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Berkshire: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Patrick Brancel, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Christopher Brancel was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Berkshire moved to 9-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Geneva, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkshire will square off against Crestwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Geneva, they will take on South at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
