Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks vs. Papillion-LaVista South Titans

The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks will challenge the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southwest will be strutting in after a victory while Papillion-LaVista South will be coming in after a defeat.

Lincoln Southwest is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Elkhorn South: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln Southwest blew Elkhorn South out of the water with a 65-26 final score. The Silver Hawks pushed the score to 47-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Storm had little chance of recovering from.

Eleanor Griffin was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds gave her a new career-high. Kaytee Irons-Buettner was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista South came up short against Millard South on Tuesday and fell 47-40.

Lincoln Southwest will have to contain Ella Morehouse as she made an impact in Papillion-LaVista South's last game. She went 6 of 15 on her way to 24 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Carter, who posted six points.

Lincoln Southwest's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Papillion-LaVista South, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Lincoln Southwest beat Papillion-LaVista South 48-37 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Papillion-LaVista South's Charlee Solomon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards.
