Softball Recap: St. Charles vs. La Plata Warriors        
        
		
            
 St. Charles was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They suffered a  tough 15-1 loss at the hands of the La Plata Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Charles of the  8-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
 For La Plata's part,  Sophie Payne and  Leah Buck were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound,  Payne   tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned run off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Buck   pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. At bat,  Payne  fired off two  home runs and four  RBI while going 2-for-3, while  Buck  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.
 In other batting news, La Plata got a  massive  performance out of  Payton Buckler, who  scored four  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. Buckler is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Janie Pratta, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3.
 St. Charles' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for La Plata, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
 St. Charles is on the road again  on Friday to play Calvert. Calvert will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something St. Charles surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Plata, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Lackey at 4:30  p.m. La Plata is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.3  runs per game  this season.
