Baseball Recap: Southfield Christian Comes Up Short

Southfield Christian extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Novi Christian Academy Warriors. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Southfield Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Wyatt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Novi Christian Academy, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Novi Christian Academy's side, Brett Polakowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Polakowski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Luke Gallagher was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Novi Christian Academy: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sam Snipes, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Novi Christian Academy beat Southfield Christian by a score of 10-0 on Tuesday.
