Basketball Recap: Ari Carter Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Eastside came into Saturday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. It was close, but on Saturdaythey capped 2024 with a 46-44 win over the Wheeler Wildcats.

Eastside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ari Carter led the charge by putting up 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jailyn Williams, who posted 11 points.

Despite the defeat, Wheeler saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cailyn Landrew dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Cherry, who put up six points.

Eastside's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Wheeler, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Eastside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-42 win against Walnut Grove on the 7th. As for Wheeler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-36 victory against Chapel Hill on the 4th.
