Basketball Game Preview: Moline Maroons vs. Pekin Dragons

The Moline Maroons will venture away from home to square off against the Pekin Dragons at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Moline came up short against Sterling and fell 47-40. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Golden Warriors are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Pekin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-46 heartbreaker at the hands of Normal Community. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Dragons have suffered since January 3rd.

Pekin now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Moline, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Moline barely slipped by Pekin when the teams last played back in November of 2018, winning 45-44. Will Moline repeat their success, or does Pekin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
