Basketball Recap: Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the King's Academy Knights, falling 61-16. The Storm were down 46-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Nick Runte and Paladin Wilson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Runte posted four points and three steals, while Wilson had five points. Runte is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Leading King's Academy to victory were Travis Haft and Everett Hollis. Haft went 8 of 14 on his way to 23 points, while Hollis dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. What's more, Haft also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lance Sparrow, who posted 11 points.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's record is now 0-14. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-26 defeat against Trinity School of Texas on the 7th. As for King's Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-47 victory against Longview Christian on the 7th.
