The McCutcheon Mavericks are taking a road trip to take on the Fishers Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McCutcheon will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Lafayette Central Catholic on Thursday. The Mavericks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 15-0 shutout. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Nyah Patel made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

Mallorie Beutel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
McCutcheon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fishers faced New Palestine in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Dragons. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kate Murray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Murray was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Clayton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cate Summerfield, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
McCutcheon's record is now 10-11. As for Fishers, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-7.
McCutcheon's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Mavericks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fishers, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will McCutcheon continue to outrun the ball?
McCutcheon suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Fishers in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
