Basketball Recap: Arcadia Drops Season-High Score on Northampton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arcadia). They blew past the Northampton Yellowjackets 101-75 on Monday. The Firebirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arcadia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryheim Pettit, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 17 boards. Pettit continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cropper, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Northampton had strong showings from Jasheem Collins, who went 9-for-18 to rack up 26 points, and Jaylen Anderson, who went 9-for-20 en route to 25 points in addition to six assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Malique Collins was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Arcadia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 12.2 offensive boards in those games compared to only 12.2 in the others. As for Northampton, their record is now 8-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcadia will face off against Southampton at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th. One thing working in Southampton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Northampton, they will take on Lancaster at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northampton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.2 points per game this season.
