Carolina Forest waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 36-31 W against the Socastee Braves. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Braves are ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carolina Forest was led to victory by London Delong and Miracle Mclean. Delong posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Mclean almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Mclean is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Despite the loss, Socastee still got an impressive performance from Trinity Sumpter, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds. Socastee is 10-5 when Sumpter posts eight or more boards, but 1-4 otherwise. Bri Smith was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Carolina Forest pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Socastee, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Carolina Forest has already played their next matchup, a 55-17 win against St. James on the 31st. As for Socastee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-24 defeat against North Myrtle Beach on the 31st.
