Basketball Recap: Lakeside Christian Comes Up Short

Lakeside Christian played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons and fell 52-20. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Barons: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Lakeside Christian had strong showings from Mauricia Climes, who posted six points and seven boards, and Ayva David, who scored two points and 15 steals. David is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Kinsley Spoor, who dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and 14 blocks for St. Petersburg Catholic. St. Petersburg Catholic is 6-1 when Spoor posts five or more blocks, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Naomi Denmark, who went 6 of 7 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Lakeside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Lakeside Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-25 win against Foundation Christian Academy on the 13th. St. Petersburg Catholic has also already played their next game, a 53-41 victory against Northeast on the 11th.
