Baseball Recap: El Diamante Takes a Loss

After flying high against Porterville last Thursday, El Diamante came back down to earth. The Miners took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redwood Rangers on Tuesday. The Miners have struggled against the Rangers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Eli Palomino was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, El Diamante saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalob Shade, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

El Diamante's loss dropped their record down to 7-7-1. As for Redwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

While El Diamante had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
