Volleyball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Franklin Central Flashes. If the Orioles were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Flashes when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Avon was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Franklin Central's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-8, 25-10.

Ethan Kondas paced Avon's offense, picking up two kills. Kondas got some help from Cameron James and his five assists. Finally, Levi Reymann kept Avon's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Tin Shwe, who had four aces and three digs. Those four aces gave him a new career-high. Anthony Suarez also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Franklin Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Avon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Boone Grove on the 19th. As for Franklin Central, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Carmel on the 19th.
