Basketball Recap: Smithfield Takes a Loss

Smithfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 71-39 loss at the hands of the La Salle Academy Rams. While losing is never fun, the Sentinels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Rams are ranked first).

Smithfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for La Salle Academy, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Smithfield has already played their next game (against Lincoln), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. La Salle Academy will head out to square off against Mt. Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
