Baseball Recap: Pittsburg Comes Up Short

Pittsburg was the 6-1 winner over Liberty when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lions since on Tuesday.

Aaron Del Real was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one double. Another player making a difference was Santino Salazar, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Pittsburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-4 record this season. As for Liberty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6.

While Pittsburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
