Baseball Recap: Live Oak Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Live Oak, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Acorns: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

The result came thanks to Austin Meads's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Live Oak is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Casey Scannell was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has become a key player for Live Oak: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nathan Newberg, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Live Oak moved to 8-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Ann Sobrato, with the loss, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-3.
