Basketball Recap: Marion-Franklin Takes a Loss

Marion-Franklin lost against Eastmoor Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marion-Franklin Red Devils were beaten by the Eastmoor Academy Warriors 85-42. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastmoor Academy was led to victory by Dekar Moultry and Phonie Simpkins. Moultry dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards, while Simpkins dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Moultry is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last five games he's played. Aayden Johnson was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Marion-Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Eastmoor Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion-Franklin will welcome Africentric Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Africentric Early College will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Marion-Franklin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eastmoor Academy, they will host South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
