Baseball Game Preview: Ludlow Panthers vs. Dixie Heights Colonels

Ludlow hasn't had much luck against Dixie Heights recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Colonels at 5:00 p.m.

Ludlow is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Sunday. They lost 10-0 to St. Henry.

Meanwhile, Dixie Heights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Juggernauts by a score of 8-3.

Owen Stulz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Will Steczynski was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Austin Krohmer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dixie Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lloyd Memorial only posted a batting average of .241.

Dixie Heights now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Ludlow, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Ludlow suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Dixie Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
