Volleyball Recap: Roger Bacon Takes a Loss

Roger Bacon was the 3-0 winner over Bishop Fenwick when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Falcons on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered against the Falcons since November 2, 2019.

Roger Bacon took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Brenna Huber paced Roger Bacon's offense, picking up eight kills. Huber got some help from Emma McGraw and her 17 assists. Chloe Garcialazo controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Bishop Fenwick's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Linklater led the charge by getting 11 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Keller, who had 18 assists.

Roger Bacon has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Bishop Fenwick, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Coming up, Roger Bacon will be playing at home against Cincinnati Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Fenwick, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Archbishop Alter on the 23rd.
