Nucla extended their road winning streak to six games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Brycen Rummel. The Nucla Mustangs took down the Ouray Trojans 51-36 on Thursday thanks in part to Rummel, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game.
The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Gillen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four).
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wesley Rhoades, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Catcher Latta was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven boards.
Nucla's record is now 9-3. As for Ouray, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.
Nucla will be playing in front of their home fans against De Beque at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Nucla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. Ouray has already played their next matchup, a 59-57 loss against Dolores on the 18th.
