Baseball Recap: Hayesville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hayesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Swain County Maroon Devils on Friday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Maroon Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ben Bethel was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Hayesville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kendall Boyer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Hayesville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Swain County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Hayesville has already played their next contest, an 11-5 loss against Franklin on the 2nd. As for Swain County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-3 win against Andrews on the 1st.
