The Vero Beach Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Eau Gallie Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vero Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Vero Beach lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Treasure Coast, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. Vero Beach blew past Treasure Coast 10-1 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Gabrielle Espich made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Kylie Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devin Snow, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Vero Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Rockledge with a sharp 8-1 win.
Like Vero Beach, Eau Gallie also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabel (Izzy) Gambill. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Gambill was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah 'Spike' Pechart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Pechart is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Ainsley O'Dell was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Eau Gallie pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs over those games. As for Vero Beach, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Vero Beach might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from Eau Gallie in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can Vero Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
