Baseball Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Fredericksburg Billies

For the second straight game, Wimberley will face off against Fredericksburg. The Texans will head out to square off against the Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wimberley has nine straight victories, Fredericksburg has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Wimberley needed a bit of extra time to put away Fredericksburg. They had just enough and edged out the Billies 8-7.

Wyatt Yeatter was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Wimberley let Cody Stoever and Bryson Anderson run wild. Stoever went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Stoever a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sage Hall, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Wimberley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Wimberley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Fredericksburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
