Baseball Game Preview: Orange Grove Bulldogs vs. Hondo Owls

The Orange Grove Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Hondo Owls at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Orange Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Hondo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Orange Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Banquete 15-3 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Zach Wright, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Linden Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Orange Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Hondo waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Badgers.

Hondo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Barr, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Barr is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Orange Grove is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hondo, their record is now 17-5-1.
