Softball Game Preview: Newport Cubs vs. Sweet Home Huskies

The Newport Cubs are taking a road trip to face off against the Sweet Home Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newport is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Newport lost 14-7 to North Marion on Monday.

Newport saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baby Garrett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Ivy Ruddiman was another, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Sweet Home came up short against Cascade on Monday, falling 11-4. The Huskies have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Sweet Home's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Newport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
