After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gateway, Aurora Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Thornton as they made off with a 17-4 win. Aurora Central has beaten Thornton the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Thornton has come to flipping the script.

Jorge De Los Santos made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Toby Sanchez and Jose Gomez did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez went 3-for-6 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Gomez got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Sanchez has posted since back in April of 2024. Kirby Colbert-Olsen was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Aurora Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Thornton, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Coming up, Aurora Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thornton, they will head out to square off against Adams City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
