Baseball Game Preview: De Smet Jesuit Spartans vs. Valle Catholic Warriors

The De Smet Jesuit Spartans will challenge the Valle Catholic Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as De Smet Jesuit comes in on three and Valle Catholic on nine.

De Smet Jesuit came out on top against Chaminade on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Spartans took their game against the Red Devils 6-1.

Meanwhile, while Valle Catholic put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Arcadia Valley. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Warriors have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Valle Catholic pushed their record up to 20-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for De Smet Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

De Smet Jesuit came up short against Valle Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
