Preview: Windsor Forest Knights vs. Groves Rebels
Windsor Forest is 10-0 against Groves since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Windsor Forest Knights will take on the Groves Rebels in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. at. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Windsor Forest and six for Groves.
Last Tuesday, Windsor Forest had to suffer through a rough 75-37 loss at the hands of Tattnall County. Windsor Forest has not had much luck with Tattnall County recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Windsor Forest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grace Ellington, who scored 13 points, and Trinity Myers who scored 13 points. Ellington scored a full 35.1% of Windsor Forest's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Groves took a serious blow against Calvary Day on Tuesday, falling 68-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Groves has scored all season.
Windsor Forest has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Groves, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Windsor Forest against Groves in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 57-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windsor Forest since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
