After a string of five wins, Santa Cruz's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellarmine College Prep Bells. The game marked the first time this season in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

Bellarmine College Prep found their leader in sophomore Nate Berliner, who had 13 digs and one assist. Berliner has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times he's played.

Santa Cruz's loss dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Bellarmine College Prep, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-10.

Santa Cruz wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Archbishop Mitty on the 14th. As for Bellarmine College Prep, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Junipero Serra at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th.
