Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Blythewood Bengals

Spring Valley and Blythewood are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. The Spring Valley Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Blythewood Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Spring Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.

Spring Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Nation Ford, posting a 100-47 victory at home. Spring Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Mariana Moody and Lauren Crosland were among the main playmakers for Spring Valley as the former almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds and the latter scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Chisholm, who scored eight points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, Blythewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to Rock Hill on the road by a decisive 65-47 margin. Blythewood has struggled against Rock Hill recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was India Williams, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Spring Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-11. As for Blythewood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Spring Valley came up short against Blythewood in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-46. Can Spring Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
