Baseball Recap: Mount Airy Takes a Loss

Mount Airy was the 5-2 winner over West Wilkes when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite Bears wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Mount Airy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Barnes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Mount Airy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for West Wilkes, they pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Mount Airy will square off against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Granite Bears are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. West Wilkes has already played their next matchup (against Wilkes Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
