Basketball Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Biggs Wolverines
Maxwell and the Wolverines are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Maxwell Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Biggs Wolverines at 8:00 p.m. on February 6th. Maxwell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Maxwell only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point they dealt the Lynx on Friday. Maxwell blew past the Lynx 69-45. That 24 point margin sets a new team best for Maxwell this season.
Meanwhile, Biggs waltzed into their game on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They walked away with a 51-41 victory over Los Molinos. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, as Biggs did.
Biggs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Skyler Long led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Chase McLean was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Maxwell pushed their record up to 10-12 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Biggs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Maxwell took a serious blow against the Wolverines in their previous meeting back in January, falling 72-32. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Maxwell was down 39-19.
