Recap: Wallace Wildcats vs. Dundy County-Stratton Tigers
The Wallace Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 75-40 loss at the hands of Dundy County-Stratton. Wallace has not had much luck with Dundy County-Stratton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Wallace lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matt Lungrin. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with four steals. That was a full 45% of Wallace's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Masen Messersmith, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Leading Dundy County-Stratton to victory were August Shaw and Jackson Kerchal. Shaw scored 16 points, while Kerchal dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kerchal hasn't dropped below two blocks for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Lane Brown, who scored six points along with five assists.
Wallace has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Dundy County-Stratton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Wallace will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brady on January 30th. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge on Thursday. Hopefully Cambridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday.
