Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Canyon del Oro Dorados

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will square off against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Vista Grande on Tuesday as Mountain View made off with a 56-30 win. The victory was nothing new for the Mountain Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, Canyon del Oro waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Rams, posting a 73-32 win.

Canyon del Oro's win came from a few key players Mountain View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Madisen Fleury, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and six assists. Those six assists gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Coleman, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

Canyon del Oro was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maricopa only posted five assists.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 5-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Canyon del Oro, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Mountain View strolled past Canyon del Oro in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 by a score of 44-28. Does Mountain View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canyon del Oro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
