Volleyball Recap: Nemaha Central Takes a Loss

Nemaha Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Royal Valley Panthers. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

While Nemaha Central ultimately came up short, they really made Royal Valley work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 27-25, 25-21.

Nemaha Central's offense was headlined by Ali Henry and Meg Honeyman, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Kennedy Carlson and her 24 assists. Honeyman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Nemaha Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Royal Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nemaha Central beat Royal Valley by a score of 2-0 later that day.
