Football Game Preview: Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski Lions vs. St. Anne Cardinals

The Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski Lions will face off against the St. Anne Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski has given up an average of 30.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Oblong, who was ranked 15th at the time (Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski was ranked 12th). The Lions blew past the Panthers 58-36 on Saturday. Considering the Lions' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, St. Anne played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville, falling 48-26. The loss was the Cardinals' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Anne fell to 4-1. As for Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski was dealt a bruising 61-8 loss at the hands of St. Anne when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 48-0.
