Basketball Recap: Leake Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Leake Academy and Rossville Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Leake Academy had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Rossville Christian Academy Wolves. The Rebels have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Zach Portwood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rossville Christian Academy, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Portwood is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Fred Motley, who posted ten points and four steals.

Leake Academy's record is now 21-9. As for Rossville Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.

Coming up, Leake Academy will face off against Oak Forest Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Oak Forest Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 matchups. Rossville Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
