Basketball Recap: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Peotone Blue Devils

The Wilmington Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight defeat. They lost to Peotone at home by a decisive 58-44 margin. While losing is never fun, Wilmington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 160th).

Despite the loss, Wilmington still got an impressive performance from Lexi Liaromatis, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Liaromatis hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Sami Liaromatis was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Wilmington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Peotone, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Wilmington will head out on the road to square off against the Redskins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Morris has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Peotone, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
