Baseball Recap: Jasper Takes a Loss

Jasper had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-14-1 to make it eight. They came up short against the Silsbee Tigers, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 on Tuesday.

Jasper saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Konnor Washburn, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Silsbee, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Silsbee's side, the team relied heavily on Ben Potts, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Potts has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Morris Hudsyn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jasper will host Mabank at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Silsbee, they will be playing at home against Bridge City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
