Football Recap: West Point Falls Short of Scottsboro in the Playoffs + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Point can now relate to. They were dealt a 45-14 defeat at the hands of the Scottsboro Wildcats on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Wildcats are ranked 63rd).

Although West Point took the loss, they still got scores from Bryant Moon and Mason Wilkins.

Scottsboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colton Harding led the charge by throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes. Harding's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Jacobi Edmonson helped Harding out on the ground, rushing for 86 yards and one score on only eight carries.

West Point has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Scottsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

West Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scottsboro, they will take on St. Clair County at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Fighting Saints have averaged an impressive 37.7 points per game this season.
