Recap: Arundel Wildcats vs. Great Mills Hornets
Even though the Great Mills Hornets scored an imposing 67 points on Wednesday, the Arundel Wildcats still came out on top. Arundel snuck past Great Mills with a 73-67 victory. Given Arundel's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Great Mills is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Noah Frayer was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Alston, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jermaine Davis, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Jordyn Mcdevitt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Arundel's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Great Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arundel will take on Severna Park at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Great Mills, they will head out on the road to face off against Calvert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
