Softball Recap: Navajo Prep Beats Thoreau for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Navajo Prep came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Thoreau Hawks 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Shianne Begay, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Cheyenne Davis was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Navajo Prep's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.4 runs over those games. As for Thoreau, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Navajo Prep beat the Hawks by a score of 17-2 later that day.
