Five weeks have been played in the baseball season in Texas, and some pitchers are off to strong starts. MaxPreps takes a look at the top pitchers in wins, earned run average and strikeouts.

Wins
Ryon Stubblefield, Sr. Orangefield, 6
Stubblefield is 6-0 with a 0.75 ERA. He's thrown 37.1 innings and allowed just 17 hits, 13 walks and four earned runs. He's also an excellent hitter, batting .477.

Payton Laughlin, So., Clyde, 6
At just 5-foot-8, 135 pounds, Laughlin can throw some heat. He has two complete game shutouts and has given up just nine hits in 29.1 innings of work.



Cody Strawn, Jr., Eustace, 6
Strawn has pitched at least five innings in all six of his starts, all victories, and has given up just nine runs on the season. He has already surpassed his wins total of last year (five).

Garrett Williams, Sr., Lucas Christian Academy (Lucas), 6
Williams has only been scored on in one of his six starts this season, logging a miniscule 0.26 ERA. He has also surrendered just 13 hits.

Chase Piper, Sr., Hendrickson (Pflugerville), 6
Piper has an ERA of 2.00, but he's received plenty of run surround from his teammates in his six starts.

Eric Smith, Jr., Avalon, 6
Smith has allowed just four earned runs in 33 innings of work. His 0.85 earned run average has kept his team in the games he's thrown in relief.

Duke Jordan, Jr., Hudson (Lufkin), 6
Jordan is off to a strong start, giving up just four earned runs in his six starts. He had 11 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout victory on March 4.

Eric Estrada, Sr., Montwood (El Paso), 6
Estrada has been lights out, surrendering one earned run in 25 2/3 of pitching. He's only walked four guys this year, too.



Brock Lawson, Sr., Joaquin, 6
Lawson has seven appearances on the season and is sporting a 6-1 mark. He has a 1.12 ERA in 31 1/3 innings.

Marroquin has pitched 28 innings and astoundingly not given up an earned or unearned run. He has three victories.

Stacey Bailey, Jr., Kerens, 0.00
Bailey has been lights out, giving up just seven hits in 25 innings of work. He's started three games and is 5-0.

Justin Lambright, So., Trenton, 0.00
Lambright has four wins in five appearances. He has faced 90 batters this season and surrendered only six hits.

Grant Kipp, Jr., Highland Park (Dallas), 0.00
Kipp has thrown 21 innings in three starts and allowed zero earned runs and 10 hits. Teams are hitting .132 against him.

Rhett Gallagher, Jr., Van Alstyne, 0.00
Gallagher has three hits against him in 16.1 innings and has struck out 29 batters. Hitters are at a 0.59 clip against him.
