After a string of seven wins, Mt. Vernon's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Licking Valley Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in April.

Mt. Vernon got a good showing from Jagger Dohn, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dohn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ezra Kurek was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dammon Wolfe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
