Basketball Recap: Granite Hills' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Granite Hills had won eight straight games and Lathan Fry did his part to make it nine on Friday. The Granite Hills Eagles took down the Santana Sultans 61-47 thanks in part to Fry, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 30 boards. Fry is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Mays, who posted five points and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Santana's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dain Diaz, who put up 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Jose Garcia, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points.

Granite Hills pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points over those games. As for Santana, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Granite Hills will square off against El Cajon Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Cajon Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Santana, they will take on Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santana is facing Grossmont at the right time seeing as Grossmont is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
