Recap: Bishop Manogue Miners vs. Reno Huskies
The Bishop Manogue Miners waltzed into their contest on Friday with 18 straight wins but they left with 19. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 79-51 win over Reno. Bishop Manogue has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.
Bishop Manogue had a senior duo take command as Milasarai Tau scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and Mata Peaua scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tau has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Gordon, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Reno still got an impressive performance from Kindle Rowe, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 39.2% of Reno's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Yolanda Reyes, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Reno, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Manogue will face off against Carson at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 61.24 points so far this season, Bishop Manogue's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Carson better be ready for a challenge. As for Reno, they will head out on the road to square off against McQueen at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Reno is ranked 44th, while McQueen is ranked 59th).
