Softball Game Preview: Bastrop Bears vs. Hendrickson Hawks

For the second straight game, Bastrop will face off against Hendrickson. The Bears will head out to square off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bastrop's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Hendrickson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bastrop is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Hendrickson 14-2. Considering the Bears have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Griesenbeck made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lanie Coy was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryleigh Fawcett, who went 1-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Bastrop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hendrickson only posted an OBP of .200.

Bastrop has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hendrickson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11-1.
