Recap: Elbert County Blue Devils vs. Easley Green Wave
The Elbert County Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 70-54 fall against Easley. While losing is never fun, Elbert County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 430th in Georgia, while Easley is ranked 146th in South Carolina).
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Hill, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Grady Jones was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Easley was led to victory by RJ Stack and Ethan Crews. Stack scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Crews scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Crews' 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drey Jackson, who scored nine points along with seven assists.
Elbert County's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Easley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Elbert County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Social Circle at 11:30 a.m. on December 28, 2023. Hopefully Social Circle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. Easley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Jenkins at 5:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Jenkins is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.8 points per game.
