Basketball Recap: Canon Lazier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mulvane over Augusta

Mulvane was the 57-42 winner over Augusta when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Mulvane Wildcats took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Augusta Orioles on Tuesday.

Mulvane's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Canon Lazier, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. Those 23 points gave Lazier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Barnes, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Mulvane now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Augusta, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Mulvane will head out to face off against Buhler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mulvane is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for Augusta, they will welcome Winfield on Friday. Augusta has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three matches.
