Basketball Recap: Cook Takes a Loss

Cook played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Irwin County Indians, falling 68-33. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

When it comes to explaining why Cook lost, don't look at Tucker Rountree. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Rountree's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Cook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Cook has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Irwin County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

Cook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-55 defeat against Berrien on the 14th. Irwin County and Wilcox County will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Irwin County is facing Wilcox County at the right time seeing as Wilcox County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
